Description
Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Explodes With Golf & Country Clubs.
Golf is booming in Mississippi, partly due to the arrival of Las Vegas-style casino resorts along the state’s southern coast. Mississippi now has about 160 courses, about half private.
Glitzy new golf courses include the Bridges at Bay St. Louis, designed by Arnold Palmer and the Grand Bear in Biloxi, the work of Jack Nicklaus, both highly rated by golfing publications.
Among some of the best places for Mississippi country club golf are Old Waverly in West Point with a layout by Jerry Pate and Bob Cupp and Annandale Golf Club in Madison, site of the PGA Tour’s Viking Classic.
You’ll find golf communities everywhere in Mississippi
Along with great clubs, there are outstanding golf communities, many designed for second-home or retirement living. Among places to explore if you’re looking for a home:
— Shell Landing with a Davis Love course set amid pristine lakes in Gautier.
— Azalea Cove at Old Waverly, dotted with lakes and wildlife.
— The Oaks in Pass Christian with a top-rated course of its own and near other courses with golf communities at Timber Ridge, Windance, the Bridges and Diamondhead.
